re: Weatherstock Visitor's Guide

0

Greetings, Kinnies!

This post is an explanation of Weatherstock and a listing of its rules for the enjoyment of all.

EXPLANATION

What is Weatherstock?

Weatherstock is an annual Landroval Cross-Server Event, created and hosted by the Lonely Mountain Band Kinship and held on Weathertop in the Lone Lands.  It is a band competition and the bands come from cross-server, as do much of the audience.  It is heavily attended.  Last year (2013), there were over 600 in the audience.

What is meant by "Cross-Server"?

Cross-Server means that players from other servers create characters on a different server in order to attend an event.  In this case, the server is Landroval, and the event is Weatherstock.

Why is it called Weatherstock?

It is called Weatherstock because it is a band competition held on Weathertop in the Lone Lands.

What level is the Lone Lands?  Can a new player attend?

The Lone Lands is a 20s level area.  New players may attend.  There will be folks available to take new players there.  Security is tight, and will be slaying all evil beings/creatures during the event, so that no one is disturbed or harmed.

RULES

NOTE: Lag is terrible.  Freezing is not uncommon. To reduce lag, LMB has issued rules:  no hats; cloaks; weapons; pets; festival consumables*; or special effects**, because, believe it or not, they all cause lag.

It is also recommended that you reset your graphics to Ultra Low.  This will also assist in reducing lag.

PERSONAL NOTE:

The more programs that run simultaneously, the slower the frame rate and the greater the lag.  This is under normal circumstances.  With Weatherstock, the lag will be unbelievably frustrating.

Be sure to have all unnecessary background programs turned off, such as Steam (unless it is needed to run LotRO); downloads; browsers; security sweeps (do not turn off security: just do not run a sweep at this time); and any other unnecessary programs.  This will assist in reducing lag.

(*Festival consumables: snowballs, gross bugs, D.R.A.G.O.N., ...)

(**Special effects:  These are usually class related.  Among other things, they include:  campfires; traps; minstrel/loremaster circles...)
